one more thing to add if you dont have much top in you might want to run a 38 or 39 tooth in the rear will give you a little more on the top because the honda already has good low end power but if you have top end run the 40 but for sure run the 13 in the front

it is very good...... teaches you thing you would otherwise not know he shaved 10 seconds off my lap time so its worth it and it shows you how bad of shape you really are in ...... you have to go to a track and in full gear run 2 laps with boots on , ride a mountain bike 2 laps then get on your atv and ride 5 laps if you think you are in shape try that and you will know what it takes only me and 2 other people finished that out of about 16 people a lot of them gave up or was puking half way thru and its not every day you get lessons from a pro rider like joe

    You sure about that?

    Stock gearing for a 2005 is 14/38
going to a 13 up front is about the same as a 41 in the back
-1 front = +3 in the back .. going up in the back takes your top end away and adds low end

i know how everything works if he is wanting to race mx he should have a 13 in the front period and what he wants in the rear is up to him on a honda the stock set up sucks the rear will dial him in a little closer to what he is wanting the front is a drastic change but he must start out with a 13 in the front on the honda you should run a 40 in the rear so for a good setup on a honda is 13/40 other atvs are different it also depends on your money if you can only chage 1 i would change the front and if he is wanting to run desert throw all of this out the window and when it comes to gearing it is all preference on how you want your atv to move and depends how your engine can handle it as well and what other parts you have run 13/40 on the honda and you will be fine
