    Default ITP Quadcross

Well a week has gone by and no one has posted up how they did? Who went? How did you do? Kody was able to beat Dunk by 12 seconds first Moto, lost both grips in the second! Had to settle for 4th overall. Really exciting to see him running with Nelson, and Baron!

I am trying to gauge if my son is ready for quadcross.
He's a big 14 and has been riding for two/three years and we hit Speedworld once a month.
My concern is not his riding ability, but rather his endurance. I don't think he realizes how good a shape these guys are in. He's clearing everything under 80 foot easy enough but still working up to the 120' back tables.
He's been pulling 2:30 laps on the SW Nationals night track setup. Dropping 2 seconds every lap. I suggested that we should see if he can pull good times for 20 minutes + 1 lap and if he can do it that we would be one step closer to get him in the SW Quadcross.
Any feedback from you guys that have gone this path would be appreciated.

What size quad is he riding. The ITP races are usually 5 laps at speedworld for most classes other than pro-am and pro. They will get practice and then 2 moto's.

    He's been riding a Yamaha YFZ450 - 2006.
It's been airboxed, piped, and I think a slightly higher compression or cam profile as it runs like a raped ape. And of course Nerfs, kill tether, wide a-arms and axle, ITP tires all around ;-). We've been practicing at SW about once a month for the last two years.

Do they use the short night course layout, the longer day course layout or the full use of all the tracks like the GP series?

All the other tracks have run 5 laps for all classes execpt pro/pro-am. At the l;ast SW round of ITP we only did 4 laps. Not sure why, I have an idea why we only did 4 laps but I wont say it here!

I 'll say it , it was so Big Dan could get the ITP over with and open the track for practice for the bikes.

I think it was so he could open the track for the Glamis Status Hillbillie Event!!!

I agree, I think it was schitty to do that. He was trying to double dip on the night and collect as much money as he could. Makes sence from a business standpoint, but I dont think you should do something like that if/when you are already committed to a huge series like ITP.

They mostly do the "Night" Course layout for ITP. so they do the larger table in the back. Which cuts out the day time section. ( no lights)
are his 2:30 lap times with the day section also? I think the Int. riders were dipping into the 2:10-2:15 times at AMX last I was told.

Just enter him in the Beg. class and see how he does.
