We're off to Pikes Peak tomorrow.
Tech/registration/riders meeting Tuesday.
Practice Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from first-light to about 8:30.
Fan Fest in downtown Colorado Spring Friday night (30,000 fans last year!)
Vintage class car show in Manitou Springs Saturday morning.
Race day Sunday!
Jeff Wright from Phoenix and I are the only Arizona Quads going.

Pikes Peak today
Tech and registration yesterday were uneventful for the Kidzaam sponsored LTZ 400. Got to see some amazing machinery that showed up for the race.
There is a Can Am FI 800 AWD quad running in exhibition powersports!
Today was practice on the bottom section of the mountain, from the starting line to Glen Cove. We had three or four runs of practice starting at first-light and the road conditions were fantastic. They had groomed the gravel sections and added stabilizer (calcium carbonate?) which made for excellent traction. For the final run they line us up three abreast and start just as the race for our qualifying run. I drew the middle (least favorite) but was able to chase another bike to the finish for a 5:58 qualifying time (20 seconds better than last years qualifying time) which put me in third of the six competitors in Q450. Q500 had 11 bikes.
There is something really cool about railing a turn on a public road pinned in fifth gear!
Tomorrow we are through the guard gate at 3:45 to practice the middle section, from Cove Creek to Devils Playground. This is the section with the most switchbacks and grade change.
They are supposed to be doing live scoring on the web site (www.usacracing.com/ppihc) but so far I've yet to see it.
As an aside, Michael Coburn, who last year set a new record in Q450 was fastest qualifier of ANY motorcycle or quad on a TRX 450R.
