i dont think the word "cushion" and "tt" go together in the same sentence. its basically going to be a small mx track.

Especially if they are throwing a couple of more jumps. On top of that, running on a ripped surface, in order to keep the dust down it will have to be wet like a normal MX track.

What did he say about getting on this forum Jessie??

Not that it matters, but I'm without Insurance right now so no racing for me for the time being....

I don't know if anyone here as seen a sprint car race, but on a dirt track the "cushion" is the very outside of the track where all the crap is, out of the "blue groove."

I understand that the new owners are trying to get more riders to come out but changing the track to this is defeating the purpose of having a flat track/TT. From the pictures, I probably won't be racing on it. Not only will there not be any traction but there won't be the speed.

I agree with Bobby; it's another MX track.

Well i talked to kenny about the day you guys rode out there, he said it was pretty rough and clumpy,,, I went and saw it on sunday and and it was looking smoother. I might not have clarified but the first jump they want to add will be on the first little straight on the infield, He said they want to put a small roller jump,, kinda like the one that was on the track before, then the third jump/bump will be on the small straight. Its supposed to be a small bump/jump i think right before going back on the oval. So it might be a little challange to hit it and get setup for the corner. I think they want it to add some technical stuff to the track. Realy it doesnt sound that bad, I know it would be better if it was still packed. I realy found it hard to belive that all the motorcycle guys wanted the track like this, and im not talking about the mx motorcycles, the flat track guys wanted it that way.

I have kinda told scott that i will help out and work with him to get some things rolling, If he does the dirt the way he has talked to me about it then it should be smooth and moist when we ride it. I dont see to much changing with set up other then tires and maybe a stock swing arm will be better. Also it is still all the same dirt out there so i dont know if we put enough quads on it that a groove will start.

Back in the early 90s they ran TT at thrasherland and it was a cushion type setup track. The good news is that now we can just run one of each class, and the class size should grow.

I belive saturday I will be going out there to help work the track some and get the jumps put in hopefully. I was also thinking of bringing up this change and kenny and bobby might have some info on this because i know they rode on it,,,, That big jump they have now, if we hit that with any speed are we going to over shoot and flat land the other side,, What if a downward slope was added to the other side??? just a thought. I will bring up any concerns that anyone has with the track to him and see if we can work together to make it good for all.

you know now that i think of it, speedworld was the first bluegroove track that i ever raced on. When i raced in New Mexico ( around alamogordo) and in california ( some track by San Juan Scanita) they were all dirt cushion type tracks. So i think they are out there, were just used to the nice surface we had. I hope it doesnt run people off and hopefully it turns out ok in the long run, I liked everyone that we raced with out there before so hopefully it will all work out.

My concern would be that if he doesn't turn it into a hardpack surface again, then it will not be TT racing a all. Just an easier form of MX. It will be competing for riders from the MX track, a stones throw away.

I would think the Flat track bike guys would have a harder time then us on a "cushion" track. Never would have guessed that one...

I just hope he doesn't put a bunch of work and time into something no one wants to ride on. That would defeat the purpose.

I will try to make it out there this weekend with my quad.

Looking at the pic, the jump that was made bigger needs to have another side to it (table). IMO, we will bottom out and run out of room.

I was thinking the same about the jump,,,, we just need to see a fast quad on it and see if its to much,,, There was a 400 ex i belive riding around it on sunday and he wasnt the fastest but i dont think he was getting any air off of the jump and he had some speed.

The only thing we might be able to stand on is if we get a good amount of quads out there and see how the track does, If it ends up looking bad then I could use that to talk him into rolling it in to pack it agin. They have that large roller from the circle track over there so i dont think packing it would be to bad,,, just a lot of time and water,,,, maybe after a race or two the motorcycle guys wont like it. I just know if we dont get some support out there then it will just be what the motorcycle guys want. Hopefully we can all come to agree on it.

Ok so i went out today to help out with the track and make a few changes. On the first infield straight i added a small roller jump, it about in the middle, should be able to hit it wide open, land and then into the corner. I was looking at the big jump, i didnt mess with it, it looks like a giant roller so we will see in the first race how it does. Then after that you turn onto the short straight that goes to the 1/4 mile oval, its kinda an uphill slope and at the top there is another kinda roller jump, this one adds a little technical spot to the track. You could probably hit it and get the quad a little sideways to land good in the corner. We will see what happens. It started to rain like crazy so i didnt get pictures. I hope everyone will come out and try it, let scott or myself know what you like or you dont like.

I mentioned to him today after i worked the track for a while that i think it would be best to pack it back in. So come out if you can to support it and also request the hard pack and i think we might be able to get it back. If we do get it hard pack agin i dont think it would be to tough to roll it in.

well i think its good that they are changing the track up a little and trying to make it a little more technical. hopefully this will allow for more passing. was the track still really loose? when do they plan on having a race or some practice? i dont think i'll take my honda out there with it being loose since it would just have too much power for that track but i might bust out the yfz.
