    Default Whiplash Fort McDowell Stories/Results

Well, Im sure you all did better than I did! First lap around I cased it on a kicker in the back and busted my nerf bar footpeg. Not long after the whole nerf fell. I rode with my foot on that rear brake the rest of the hour though! I still finished. Got 21st place... Haha, I dont even like to here the sound of that. Two races in a row though, quite the bummer.

This was my first whiplash race and it was a lot of fun. Probably the most fun I've had in a race. I won in open expert. I caught up and passed all the pros except 3 of them. I assumed the pros would be much better since they do every single whiplash race and are used to the time, but my finish time was just as fast as the first place pro guy at 1 hour and 16 minutes with 14 laps. So, I'll be racing pro in whiplash from now on. I noticed that everybody that races whiplash are much more friendlier than people from the ITP series and stuff. It was cool to be around everybody that was nice, even the staff.

Hey King, sorry I missed you but glad you got out and sounds like you had a really good race. I thought you might given that layout. Things can change when they are doing the 120+ mile desert runs through. Those are 3 hour marathons in much different terrain than you saw today. If you're moving that good though, you'd probably do well on those also...

Steve, sorry to hear about your bad luck. I did see your pieces laying on the track (at least I think they were yours). Looked to be in almost the same spot I lost my plastics...hmmm, omen maybe???

Me, I had a pretty good race. Took second out of the holeshot and held that for a while. Moved into first on the second lap and held that for a few laps and then faded bad. Ended up in 3rd, which I'm very happy with. Looking forward to Firebird now.

Steve... Huge bummer!!! Sorry to hear about that!!! Good to hear that you still raced to the finish though!!! Cool to hear about that!!!!

Mr. King... Were you #199? If so... YOU LOOKED REALLY GOOD out there!!! Agreed... You definitely looked like a "Pro" out there! I did not notice your times, but I did witness how you looked out there, and I must say, very impressive... Especially since it was your first Whiplash race!!!

Bubba (Webopper)... Great to see that you are making the transition from MX/ WORCS to Whiplash!! For your second race, you definitely looked good out there too!!! Yeah, #602 appeared to stay consistant, with #613 close behind him... So you finishing 3rd is really good bud! Congradulations for your first Whiplash Podium Finish!!!!!

Nice job scotty (#199), you were moving and everyone was talking about how fast you were. I guess I should have been more direct in my recommendation to you to run pro in your first post a few weeks ago. A pro MX'er is definitely a pro in whiplash. IMO mx takes more skill than desert.

My hands swelled up again during my race so I could barely hold the bars for a while. It went away around lap 10. I ended up in 5th place. I think the open expert class was the hardest division at this race because my time would have been good for 2nd in senior pro and I think 4th in open pro. Wow, the experts are flying.

No... I did not witness the crash, but I did notice how John Baj continued to race!

I did not talk to him after the race... Sorry John, but watching how he continued racing after his crash is amazing, as the race continued, he continued to race more aggressively after each lap... That by his last lap, he was moving faster than I would have been going!!!

John is definitely a warrior out there... Good people too!

Trent... Time for you to go Pro too! (Can you imagine the purse if move of you guys moved up to Pro!!?) You got great people behind you, and you have greatly improved, so it would not surprise me if you do switch to Pro next year. Good to see you out there! And glad to see you finish this race!!!

I had a blast out there for the endurance race so I definitely would have given this one a try if I was still in town!

    Congrats to everyone!

Thanks fishboy and Trent. Like I said I didn't know what to expect in my first whiplash race, so I chose the expert class to see how it was. It wasn't close to as bad as I though it'd be though. My favorite part was the going through the was because it got really rough. Only bad thing was that was my quad sat really low and frame kept hitting on everything. I'll be sure to set up my quad next race though.

Wouldn't the longer courses, like the 2 hour plus races, be easier since there is a lot more straight and flat areas? Or what are those races like? I'm planning on doing the rest of the whiplash races this year. It was so much fun.

Jeremy... The course was a little bit longer, and not as dusty as the "6 hour Race"... So I definitely think you would have LOVED racing it!!!

The next Whiplash race for us quads is Sunday, November 2nd at Firebird Raceway... So both Jeremy and King #14 can keep their MX set-ups for this race!
