Default Who likes Harbor Freight Tools ???? I Do!!

This kinda goes in the maintenance topic area.

If your like me you have a pretty well stocked shop. I'm a Craftsman Tool guy and most of my "good" tools are of that make. A few Snap-On tools here and there. Power tools run the gambit from Black & Decker, to Milwakee, Porta-Band, Skill, and Craftsman too.

But for consumables, grinding wheels/wire wheels, wire for the wire welder, etc., or 'throw away' tools, truck tool kits, loaners to friends and family, gifts for those who have no tools at all, and all sorts of "nice to have" items, this place is the Bomb-Dillio!!

I can spend an hour, easy, walking around looking at all the stuff. And most of it is dirt cheap! Now almost all of it is made in Taiwan/China, so if that bothers you, be aware.

For example, you can get a 4 1/2" right angle grinder for below $20, (it has been on sale for as low as $7) That's cheaper than three grinding wheels that go on it! If I didn't have two Craftsman Indusrial versions already I would buy one, or three. Tools like this are cheap enough to buy for a project and throw it away if it dies.

They do have an aluminum Quad Floor Jack that will find it's way into my garage when it goes on sale. It's only $129 now, its not always on the site, but it's in the store, and it will go on sale, everything does in this place.

Then I can sell the one I got from Cycle Gear.

Anybody else like Harbor Freight??? For disposable & specialty tools you only may use once a great while, but don't want to spend the big bucks for the "name brands", it's hard to beat.

Oh yeah I like that place for toss and who gives a s#$% tools. That's where my atv/motocross tools come from if going to dunes, cinders, trail and etc. for everyone to use which they lose or never give back. R.I.P. to all the good tools I've lost over the years. Now the good stuff stays at home safe and sound.

my sockets, wrenches and screwdrivers are all craftsman,, but 99% of everything else i have is harbor freight,,,,

some of there stuff does seem cheapy, but i am impressed with the channel locks, crescent wrenches, and there long handle needle nose pliers,,,,,, they have some sets that have orange handles,,,, they are great.

My sockets, wrenches, screwdrivers are all Snap-on, no im not a spoiled rich kid either, i work as an auto technician so i have a truck that comes to the dealer. All the Snap-on tools i have at home are the ones that were replaced by new Snap-on at work.

Now the 129 aluminum quad stand there doesnt sound like a deal unless it gets under $60.00 b/c Checker or Autozone sell one for that much. I just got one and its great!

Harbor Freight is GREAT for stuff you plan on using for a single project or for things that you dont need "QUALITY" for. The grinder deal sound GREAT. Craftsman is good, but i dont like there wrenches, the open end like to spread open and then strip the nut/bolt when tightening. Like everyone said they are great for the friend that has NOTHING and continues to borrow your stuff. I NEED to invest in some HF tools for the track box and desert bag. Tired of carrying and worrying about loosing my expensive Snap-on tools!

Yup, I'm with you on that one. Welding clamps, screw drivers, even their auto dimming welding helmet, anything with a lot of steel, vice, anvil etc. I've avoided items that require precision such as their bench top metal lathe. When the price gets low enough, the tool becomes a throw away. When you absolutely need it to perform, you buy the best (or at least really good .

I was an industrial mechanic for 12 years, so all my tools are also Snap-on but for the wrenches that you need to heat up and bend a certain direction to get a hard to reach bolt, you can't go wrong with HF.. I picked up my quad jack there on sale for like $49 a couple years ago and it was decent quality.
