Quad stand
Ok Im looking at building a stand for my quad, so I was wondering if anyone has any plans or pictures of something they have built, or even ideas. I want something with casters so I can roll it out of the way if i need to. I knowthres companys that make stands, but I honestly dont want to spend 125 plus for something I can build alot cheaper.

I just made a little table probably 1.5 wide and 3 foot long, and about 2 foot high, has expanded steel on top, i just put i towel on it, when i put the quad on there, or use it as a tool table at other times... Next time i am down at the shop i will snap a pick, its really simple to make and is super stong, no casters but think those can be added on super easily

Im thinking something fairly small and lightweight so I can take it to the track during races. I have a rough idea in my head, just need a starting point or some dimensions.

Do what I do sometimes. Go to the cycle/ATV shops, take a few pics, (or pull them from the net), take a few measurements, go home draw it up and start cutting.
There are a few tip up tables out there too, but I have not used one. You basically stand the quad on it's rear end, slide the table under it and push the quad and table upward to leave the quad sitting on the table about waist high.
I like the tip up stands. Like this one. They are light, can be made collapsable, and easy to fab up. This one is for a bike, so a quad application would need to be wider. And if you design it right, it will grab the rear axle, and the front bar of the a-arms. For use on either end of the quad.
Here is a none tubular design.
Castors at the track would work if you have a hard surface to work with like the trailer floor, plywood, etc. Otherwise they would need to be fairly big wheels to actually roll around in the dirt parking lot/pits.Last edited by ElderGeek; 12-10-2009 at 09:41 AM.

My brother and U made an X frame stand... We just took the idea of a known company and made it for less then the cost of buying theirs, and its about identicle... BUT unless you have a hook up on aluminum it can e expensive to make what i have, fortuneately my brother works for a machine shop and was able to get deal on material!
We went with aluminum for weight as steel would have beel to heavy and bulky to lug around to track. It doesnt have casters though
I will post up a few pics shortlyAnderson208.comYou know if you've been faking the funk.
Shut up and go ride.
