    I have that 70 ('81) block...I dont have a need for it and will drive it down for you to pull the fly wheel and whatever else you want. Just let me know (its also got the 88cc jug and cam on it too )

    Theres probably a reason he messed with all that stuff. CDI? Tried starting fluid?

    A rubber blowgun end fitted over the end of the car-compression testers hose has worked for me before. Just push down on it hard while cranking, that 7-1 comp isnt much.

    Thanks to Jeephreak lending me his compression tester, we have ruled out low compression as the problem.

    Thanks to Predizone & l1tech for their offers too. Further diagnosis points to failed/failing Primary winding on the Stator.
