Default Serial number??? please help if you can

Hey guys i am in the process of getting a 05 450r by this sat, movin up from my 400

The R is super clean for an 05, but the serial number, i know its sposed to be engraved, but this one isnt, its in the same spot, but has a sticker instead with all the info. The number match and everthing so i aint sure whats up with that? I still wanna get it cause of what great shape its in, but am worried that when i pressure wash it after the track, i will take it off buy accident.

So my question is, why is this one different with the sticker? And does anyone know if i can take it to the dealer and get it engraved? I really dont wanna buy a new frame, and worry bout that sticker all the time :/

A replacement frame will have a sticker, not engraved. The VIN on the sticker MUST match what is on the title. The sticker could be peeled off and kept with the title until you sell it, then re-attach the sticker.

OK sounds good, i will makes sure to see if they match, if they dont i aint doin it

And your positive its ok to peal it off and keep it with title? Cause the sticker said, do not remove i aint voiding anything?

Even if the frame was replaced, it is still very clean, and ran good. THat shouldnt be a reason to to get it right? I looked this thing over head to toe, and it seemed to be in great shape

call a dealer or 'zuki directly and see what they say? IF the title and the frame match...its all good. If the sticker comes off keep it in a zip lock taped under the seat or something.

    Good luck with the purchase.

If you can hold out for an 06+ 450r. While the stock front geometry on the 04-05 is a bit better the motor and trans on the 06+ hold up better plus the 06+ motors make more power right out of the box before you even start modding and the stock rear swinger on the 06+ is about 3/4 inch longer, may not sound like much but it makes a difference. The 05 had a problem with crank bearing failures. There are tons of deals out there right now on 06+ 450r's

The 06 tranny goes out all the time and that is why everyone runs 05 at least what I hear from every shop and every racer I know. Now engine wise yes it is a little more powerful but if you are going to race I would assume you are going to do mods to it. Just my 2 cents.

yes, there are already a few mods done to it, Full yoshi TRC, jetted, KNN stock replacement till i can afford somthin better its good... DG nerfs, they will work till i can get some propegs... and wheel spacers till i can afford suspension...

I have been doin research now for the last few months talkin to ian and rudy, and lookin on forums, 06+ seem to have tranny issues... the crank bearing on this, yeah it could happen, but i have heard stories of when the trannies broke on other bikes an dpeople having to get whole new motors...

The first thing i am goin to do to it after i get the maintance stuff outta the way is probably the stage two hot cam and a better intake, then an axle and som +3 arms, and get some 4/1 offset fronts... Then my bar and stem then nerfs then i will see from there but dont plan on doin a TON to it, either send the stock shocks in or get somthin, i would love to do LT but i just dont get that kinda money...
