I run Hi-Flo oil filters. I usually order them about 10-20 at a time from Lytle Racing Group. They're around $3/ea I believe.

thanks Jeremy... any recommendations on engine oil? 08 Kfx450r engine has about 12-15 hrs on it. Im considering it broken in.
Does the KFX have separate engine and tranny oil?

Best oil to run is the Belray Thumper tests have shown that it grabs onto the metal better. At are shop we have in stock the KN oil filters and from what we found they seem to last the longest and filter really well.

ok what is every one view of the metal REUSABLE filters that are magnetic and grab metalic particles THEN can be washed and reused. I know they are pricey but anyone actually use or seen them used?

i used the re-usable ones a couple times on various bikes and they sucked. to me it was alot easier to just buy 10 throw away filter for the price of one re-usable filter that you will throw away after using it twice or three times tops

Yes.....I use the Ready Filter's Comp Flow stainless steel re-usable oil filters in all my bikes. If you actually change your oil after every race (like everyone that is selling a quad claims to have done....lol), the re-usable will save you money over the long run. They filter down to 35 microns.....MUCH smaller than a paper filter, and can be quickly cleaned with a can of carb cleaner. For only $60, it doesn't take long to pay for itself when you change your oil after every HOUR of riding......plus it is better filtration....how can you lose?![]()

Its funny you said all that, THAT IS EXACTLY how i was thinking. And your RIGHT, everyone selling a quad "SAYS" they changed the oil after every ride, BUT i think the saying is true, "buy from a racer not a weekend worrior, the racer knows how AND DOES change his oil regularly!!!
I know there are some freak weekenders that DO change fluids on a reg basis, MOST dont though!
I figured a K&N costs between $8-$11 bucks, so after 6 oil changes its paid for itself, AND it filters better and is SIMPLE to clean. I think this is the way i will go!![]()
