Default 2004 YFZ 450 starting problems

I bought my 2004 YFZ from a buddy and I don't know too much about the YFZ's. However, it seems as though whenever I go to start the YFZ it takes forever to get it started even with the choke. Then there have been a few times when racing on a MX track (yes I am a beginner on the track) that when I stall it takes well over a minute to get it re-started which by that time I am way behind. The quad does have the programmable Vortex ignition with the 10 pre-set settings, a Dr. D pipe, K&N filter, and it also has the 2006 crank in it which I guess it better??? The battery is brand new so I know it's not that. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

    Most starting problems are:
    1. The carb is not jetted properly and/or
    2. The valves are not adjusted properly

Does it have the cam mod??? if so who did it? this can cause a problem also.
When it is HOT it will be HARDER to start, mine is. And i have stalled during a race and took forever to get going again.

I am not sure about the cam mod, I just remember him saying he put the 06 crank in there I believe. I think Weller racing did it, so maybe I will reach out to them

As far as i know they are a pretty respected company. If they did the work originally then im sure they will work with you to get this problem resolved as well.

I absolutely agree that they are a great company. I just don't know how long ago the work was done as I bought it after it was done. I am in the midst of getting it figured out and will let everyone know what I find out
