Default 07TRX450 - Stock Foam Filter or K&N

About six months ago I purchased the K&N Filter w/precharger and the Powerlid with drycharger.

I have yet to install it and was wondering what you guys thought about it. I am going to the dunes at the end of December and wondered if I should give it a try.

    Bike Specs.
    - 2007 TRX450ER
    - HRC Kit (cam, green wire harness, header pipe, no air box lid, and jetting (main - #163, slow - #42, jet needle - 3rd groove from top, accelerator pump bypass jet - #55, A/F mixture screw - 1 1/8 turns out)
    - LRD Pro 4 Exhaust (on HRC header pipe)

I have read many threads on many boards and I guess it comes down to preference. I only know the stock foam filter, but bought the K&N thinking it would give me a bit more hp.

The riding I like to do is mostly trails and hill climbs. Your thoughts?

I'm not so sure you'll see any noticeable gain in the seat of the pants. On a dyno, you may see a .5 HP increase, but probably not much more than that. I do however think a properly oiled K&N w/ prefilter, is a better choice for the dunes. You already have them, put them on.

K&N w/ outerwear. So easy to clean and re-oil. Foam is only better in silt conditions.....which you will probably never ride in. No one in their right mind would...............well, unless it is part of the course of a WORCS pro main event in Idaho.
