The frame is actually just paint, not powder coat. But, the only ground that actually touches the wiring is on on motor parts. No cables actually touch the frame itself. I have a cable that goes from the negative terminal to the motor block. I will start with checking continuity from the actual connection spots to the frame.
Thanks for another the info on another area to check.

And Buck, that was funny as chit!

No, the coil and voltage regulator rectifier both get bolted to the frame, and both areas need to be free of paint or powdercoat. They MUST touch bare metal.

No they don't, I completely powdercoated my frame with two layers of PC and the only clean up I did was chase the threads and sand down the areas where the front motor mounts touched the motor and I had zero issues with grounding problems. The coil is completely sealed in a rubberized coating and the regulator/rectifier doesn't even have to be bolted to the frame for the bike to run.

Check for power at the key and confirm power is coming out of the key. Do you have the shop manual and wiring diagrams? If not, get them from here.

+1 on ^^. I can bring my test equipment and we can do some checking, but I'd need to know what I'm supposed to see and where. That's where the manual and diagram come in...
