Thaks for all the suggestions guys. Yeah, on the Yami the rectifier sits on a painted frame from the factory. It SHOULD be grounded to the frame by one of the bolts that are used to secure it to the bike, to prevent a burn out of the part but it will still run without it. And the coil as explained above, comes enclosed in the spark plug boot.

Weeelllllll, it turns out that I must have been really tired when I assembled the wiring harness, because I found out that the main relay was installed BASSACKWARDS!!! GRRRR

Once I turned it around, electrical problem solved. Now I just need a resistor kit for the 05 harness that is on the bike so I don't have to worry about running the headlights.

I'm talking about the other end, not the rubber cap. The other end needs to touch the bare metal frame and is mounted with 2 bolts.

Glad you got it working Code918.

Wow, crazy Honda stuff! On the Yami, we don't have that other thingy on the end. The spark plug boot has two wires coming out of it that run straight into the wire harness.

Well someone will be disappointed when they buy that because it won't fit! i have an 05 and an 08, and neither of them have that part. I also have a couple of complete spare harnesses with all the relays, switches, and spark plug boot attached. Again, none of them have it.

Kinda have me wondering what quad that part in the picture DOES fit!

And Taylor,,, you can't use "codes" on me that I taught you! It loses soooo much on the humor scale. Meow!

My '06 doesn't have that coil either. Could it be an aftermarket?

I pulled this statement from the 'new features', engine section of this article.

Ignition coil is integrated into the spark plug cap; extremely light and compact.

Mine looks like this. Two small wires in an H2O proof plug connect to the top of the coil to trigger it, (almost hidden on this pic) . The other end snaps onto the spark plug.

Here is another thread with some pics of the manual.

Thats exactly what all YFZ coils from 04 to 09 should look like.

Sounds like you got it going! I know I just saw someone selling the resistor kit on a forum a couple of days ago, just don't remember which on, if I stumble across it I will post the link.
