    Default 06 trx450 head on 05

I have heard of it being done but how much more power are you gaining? And do you have to buy a complete 06 head or is there anything you can use from an 05?

It would be pointless. The 05 head is capable of the same power.

What are you trying to accomplish?

never heard of anyone doing that.
seems like it would be much easier to just have the 05 head ported. the 05 head will actually support more airflow than an 06 head when both are ported.

I have seen it done before, and there is no gain at all..A good motor builder can make it work, not worth the time. Stick with a well built 05 trx engine. Much more reliable than a 06, no tranny gremlins in a 04/05.
