    Default Gearing question

So I need some suggestions. My TRX is a 2009. Stock sprockets set up is 13/38. Only motor work is HRC kit, open air box lid with KN filter and full Sparks exhaust. I feel like 2nd gear runs out to quick and 3rd gear doesn't seem like there is enough.

So, today at ACP practice with a half an hour left, I put a 12 tooth on the front. It was like a totally different bike then. I was hitting 5th gear on some of those uphills where as before I was in 3rd, maybe 4th. For sure not enough time to get use to for the race on Sunday. So we swapped it back to stock set up for now.

What do you guys think, maybe just going up 1 tooth on the rear. I think going up 2.7 teeth in the rear is the same as dropping 1 in the front. Not sure where they got the 2.7 calculation.

    Thoughts? Suggestions? Smart ass comments?

hmmm i wonder how dif gearing is on bikes, my kawi stock was 14/38 but felt like i had no top end so i switched to 15/38 and put in stg 2 hotcams and i love it now, i guess gearing depends on how ya feel, but i wouldnt change anything so close to the race without getting used to it

I thought we counted it and it had 14T?

and yes -1 up front is +2.7 in rear or (3)

if the front is 13T do a 39 or 40 in the rear.
if its a 14T (go out and count it) ill go take my 13T off for ya and you can use it at the race tomorrow..

and you never answer the damn phone

I got a 39 i am giving Eric tonight so you can try it out during practice in the morning

It's 13 I counted and I checked the service manual and it says it on renthals site. I think going to a 39 may be the ticket..... I hope

I run 13/39 on my 07 450r and it gives it just that little bit that I was looking for in 3rd. I was thinking about going to a 12t in the front but it is hard on everything as the chain has a harder time wrapping around a 12t.
