It may be. but right now the quad seems to be running a little hot.

the fan turns on but i have no specs on when it should. Nick says his can idle for around 10-15 mins before it turns on. I think mine is around 5 mins. and the fan turns on.. It seemed to run a little hot at Canyon today. ( nick thinks so) i never noticed the little red light on while i was riding.

If you do get one make sure to put it on the correct hose, which is the top hose.

I run an ESR inline gauge.

The manual should tell what the on/off temps are for the fan switch.
It can be tested by pulling it and throwing it in a pan of water, put it on the stove and watch the water temp. With an ohm meter across the switch leads it should show open, (infinity) it will close when it reaches it's 'ON-trip temp'. Turn off the heat and slowly add colder water to the pan to help it cool down a bit quicker. Go slow & stir or you'll miss the off-temp & need to start over. The 'off-trip temp' should be lower then the 'on-trip temp.

Does the fan cycle on and off at all? During idle AND/or riding?

Temp probe placement depends on what temp you want to read. If you want to read the coolest anti freeze temp entering the engine put it in the 'coolant supply' to the engine. If you want to see the highest antifreeze temp of the engine, put it in the 'coolant return' from the engine.

Idle yes the fan works. Riding I have no clue. I can't hear it come on or reach down to check it ( to busy trying to stay on the quad)
