    Default Rekluse Auto Clutch

I was just browsing Rocky Mountain ATV and I came accross this:

It's an auto clutch. Does anyone here have one and if so, what are your opinions about it? It's on the pricey side but the concept seems appealing...no stalling...possibly make you run quicker/faster.

I dont have one of these but my buddys that run XC races have them and they said it is so much better cause less clutching/ and no stalling going over obstacles or rough stuff , also they never bog down even if u from 50mph to 10mph and still in 5th gear, so ive heard

That last part of your statement is a little hard to believe.... How would that be possible!? Its not. Since its an AUTO clutch, when your doing 10mph your not in 5th gear. This thing works off centrifugal force. I wouldnt install on my bike!

I know a few people running them and it seems to be either they love it or hate it. Z-start Pro model is the way to go, lots of adjustment. Here is a pretty good vid. He does a 3rd gear start and pretty much never touches the clutch again.

Also a good article to read showing the difference between a Hinson BTL slipper clutch and a Rekluse. Kinda explains how they work

I understand the principle behind it. I was just saying that i wouldnt run one on my bike.

I know Adam said what he "HEARD" was that they dont bog and i agree they wouldnt, but if your haulin A$$ and come into a tight corner or obstacle it isnt going to stay in fith gear. Actually i guess the question i have is does it work like a true CVT transmission with that installed? Like a Rhino or a KFX700?

It is NOT an auto-shifter, it just prevents your engine from stalling from not pulling in the clutch. Yes, you can be in 5th gear and slow to 10mph without stalling, but you will immediately have to shift down to 2nd before accelerating or you will bog the engine down.

Yes, the pro model is better, but it is personal preference. I turned down running a free Rekluse clutch for 2 years as I liked lapping Rekluse riders on the side of the track with a fist full of ball bearings in their hand looking quite pissed.

It really depends on the type of riding and/or racing that you do to determine if the Rekluse is a good idea. I must say though Rekluse is a bunch of good guys and they try hard.

Kinda like a CVT but you still have different gears and use the clutch on the start. It will idle in gear with the rekluse, depending on how you configure it will decide how hard it 'Hits" as you increase throttle. Most people I know that run it usually stay in one gear after the start and let the clutch do it's magic to keep it from stalling in corners. It just "slips" the clutch for you when you get on and off the gas.

I personally agree with Kramar's opinion, I like a standard clutch. Less stuff for me to worry about
