    Default predator valve nightmare

I have a pred 500 that was new when I bought it , less than six mo. old after the second valve adjust I'm down to the smallest shims, take it in ,valves are shot, polaris replaces the head and valves, just over 30 days later its smoking like a two stroke, take it back, valves shot again polaris wont warrenty, put after market valves in it,maybe after a mo. intake valves need adjusted and I'm down to smallest shims now and service guy says thats just a polaris nuthing he can do about it. I think they over ground the valve seats or something, reguardless I'm definately getting screwed without the benifit of lubricant. Am I wrong? and is there a cure beside packing my own petroleum jelly?

You really need to clean your air filter more often! No way you can kill that many valves unless you're getting a lot of dirt in there to grind away those seats!

wow Ive never heard of this happening that many times and so fast, not even on a crf250. the question is WHY are they wearing so fast? ask your mechanic that because My buddy had one for about 4 years and bashed the chit out of it with out ever having the valves adjusted once!

    Default Predator valves

My wifes old predator was an 07 tld and after about 15 hours of ride time the intake valves where tight so I had them adjusted at the dealership. Another 10 hours and they were shot. The air filter was the first thing the dealership tried to point to and say that I was getting dirt into the intake. The intake was spotless. I was outside the six month warranty and they wouldn't fix. I ordered Kibble white valves and installed them myself and never had another problem. I didn't even have the seat re-cut. I simply put some valve grinding compound on the valve and spun them by hand to make sure they seated good. I cleaned the compound off and installed the springs and then did a leak down check by filling the combustion chamber with gas. I didn't have any leaks. I bolted the head on and never looked back. She put on another 50 hours and I never had to adjust the valves again. The stock polaris valves are shit. I don't know why but if you go predator.com there was like 500 plus people all with the same problem. I am not saying that fixing it the way I did will cure your problem but it worked for me. Good luck

The air filter has been kept clean, i've got the kibble white valves in it now but the intakes tightened back up,I adjusted them but now I'm down to almost the smallest shims, the mecanic says its just polaris junk and maybe the seats are hammering out.I guess I'll just have to see how long this valve adjust lasts, next time I'll just fix it myself, I dont trust any of these shops, I think every one of them are just out to screw you.

Maybe its your new valves that are junk and not the head? Would be a cheaper fix.

I hate INT valves >< stupid

Referring more to the fact that the guy was having problems with KW replacement valves and not just Suz/Kaw.
