    Default TRX Ignition module

Hi all. The ICM just died on my wifes trx450. it's an 07. Long story short I put a module from an 04/05 in it and it runs fine. It only has 2 plug ins on it where the 07 one has 3. The throttle position circuit is this 3rd unused port.Has anyone had any experience with this? I am just wondering if I should get a module for the 06/07 or just run the one I have in there now!!

    Thanks, Jim

I"m gonna say get the right one. The 06+ bikes have a different spark curve if I'm not mistaken

Question: Is the ICM the same thing as a CDI?

ICM and CDI are more or less relating to the same thing. CDI, which stands for Capacitive Discharge Ignition is a type of system that is used to fire the plug. An ICM, Ignition COntrol Module, is exactly that, a module used to control the ignition. Now I do believe that when people talk about ICM and CDI that they are referring to the same thing but the 2 systems, although they accomplish the same thing, are actually different. I think CDI types of ignition or more of a Yamaha thing.
