    Default Cam Mod on a '07 YFZ450?

My son has a '07 YFZ450 with full Sparks exhaust, ProDesign Intake, K & N Filter, no lid and he wants a little more power. I heard that there is a "Cam Mod" for the YFZ's that all you need to do is move the gears one tooth forward?

Is it really that simple? Do you need any special tools? How long does it take? Do you have to re-jett after this mod is done and for the $64K quesiton...

Would we really see/feel that much of a HP gain in the seat?

I believe it is the exhaust cam only that gets advanced one tooth, and yes you will feel a difference. It has been my experience when playing with cams that you don't need to rejet after changing cam profiles or cam timing. Go here http://yfz450.theatvchannel.com/ for a little more info

Ditto. I saw a difference in my '04, and it takes about 45 mins.

Another question, you can do the cam mod to any '04-'08 yfz, right?

correct all yfz's 04 - 09 (except for the 450R) come from the factory with the exhaust cam advanced one tooth. Here is another good write up http://www.bluetraxx.com/tech/cam_mod.htm

If you google yfz 450 cam mod, there are videos on youtube showing how to do it, but it is easy to do. Yes you will feel a difference.

And make sure to zip-tie that timing chain. And don't over-torque the valve cover bolts because they break really easily

While you are in there doing it, it is a good idea to go ahead and check/adjust the valves.
