    Default 5th gear issues

When I take it up in 5th gear, the bike starts to sputter/bog a little. I'll keep it a steady speed and every 5 seconds or so it'll do it. Any thoughts what might be wrong?
    Thanks,

My 450R did that exact thing to me up in Snowflake last weekend. The only thing that I KNOW was wrong was I was jetted for here in the valley, which would be waaaaay to rich for up in the Rim country. SO...my guess is that you're running too rich on your jetting.

Are you hitting the limiter? Go out and run it up in 2 and 3rd and see if it does the same thing. I know for the longest time mine did it and I thought it was jetting, and I moved the main all over the place and couldn't make it go away, then realized i was hitting the rev limiter.

i don't remember it doing that through the gears but i'll check again. if it is the rev limiter, is there a way to adjust it?

get a different CDI, there are several on the market, and I think they all bump it by 1000 rpms. I don't remember any that remove it, maybe someone has one you can borrow to test it out.

First things first, have you done anything to the bike recently?? Usually when a quad is rich on the top end it will feel as if it has hit the rev limiter...bike just kind of falls flat. When you have a lean condition on the top end it will start to sputter a little bit and not like to take any throttle input. One thing you can try to do to see if it is lean on th etop end is to run it up to where you are having the problem and then try pulling the choke out a small amount, if you are running lean then it will richen it up a bit and then bike should take off if that is the problem. If it is running rich pull the spark plug, clean it, put it back in and then run it up to where you start having the problem, pull the clutch in adn shut the motor off adn coast to a stop, pull the spark plug adn see if it is either damp with fuel or black..either one of these conditions would indicate a rich condition. My friend has a YFZ also and he thought he was gonna be slick adn pull the air box lid off without rejetting it and ran into the exact same problem.....but you didn't do that did you? BTW if you are hitting the rev limiter you would be hauling ass when it happens....are you
