    Default 1986 250r motor help??

I just went from a 4 stroke to a 1986 honda 250r and it has a 310cc kit, high compression piston,Paul Turner full exhaust, K&N intake. My question is that when I get on the throttle it takes a second or 2 before the power kicks in but when it does it throws me back, is that normal for a 2 stroke? It seems like I have to shift very fast between gears.???

ya thats normal for 2 strokes. you have to keep them on the power band at higher rpm's.

A two stroke requires a lot more clutch work than a four stroke and you definitely can't lug it around like a 4stroke; you have to be on the pipe at all times. But with a 310 kit, I bet that thing rips.

yes that is the norm with 2 strokes watching out for the powerband. tey love high rpm so you have to switch gears alot. you will have fun riding that thing when you get the hang of it or you will hate it.

ditto.. try to keep that 2 stroke from lugging. They are like a Thoroughbred they love to run. So keep it in the power band.. thats the joy of a 2 stroke. Feather the clutch to get your rpm's up and into the PB.. rather than down shifting.

    Enjoy

I'm actually looking to sell this because it has too much power and it doesn't fit my riding style. It's on the "quads for sale" part.

Which Turner pipe is it?If its there high rev pipe thats your problem. Get there low end pipe and it wont have that hit in the higher rpm. It will give it a smoother power band.
