Default popping out of gear under hard load

I noticed at the track the tranny would get a false Nuetral if i hit the gas hard coming out of a turn in 3rd gear and had a large load on the engine... anyone ever felt this on a LTR450?

it only did it about 2-3 times only on one section of the day time track at SW

Probly not the shift pin, all that does is relocate it so it is less likely to break. Sounds like the standard LTR trans problems. I would try some different oil and run it a little above full. I have one LTR that I work on alot and it will only not pop out of gear with Bel Ray petroleum oil in it. I'm sure there is others that will work as we have not tried all oils, but its the one that works in ours.
If you don't know, ask and i'll tell you!!!

it does more than help, prior to install any time you step on the shifter your causing the pin to bind/ bend a little, which could, may cause other problems, when installed, you will notice a firmer shift, to include the protection of it not snapping off and creating more problems, i have yet to hear of a type of oil being the culpret of slipping out of gear.

when pulling holeshots, and my rear hanging off the back of the bike grabbing for traction, the tranny is popping out of gear and giving a false neutral, i found the shift cam stopper(the piece that holds it in gear with the spingloaded roller mounted on the end of the shift drum) two of the detented areas were worn of letting it switch between gears.I have a relocator but have not installed it yet.
    Will that help?

    yes,

    Thanks bro

mine does that also on holeshots, i think it happens to me because i dont pull the lever up far enough, i think i pull it like 3/4 of the way.

And I don't think it has anything to do with the shift pin relocator.

do you have the shift pins in your bikes

He better should have the shift pins in the bikes, otherwise shifting would really be an issue

here is what took a chit on mine.thought it was a bent fork but those are fine.this is the piece that your shifter turns.this is the side facing the shift drum

this is kind of becoming a new issue on some of the older LTR's. This would be your simple fix the the problem.

If this appears to look fine however, you will most likely have to have the transmission service done.

    Also..............something else to look at.
have an LTR engine split in the shop right now. I believe that I have found what could be causing some of these cases to break around the shift shaft boss.

When I dissassembled the bottom end of the engine, I found that the stud that centers the shift shaft was finger tight from the factory. I have found several other bolts on the right half of the engine that were loose as well. This is not the first time I have encountered loose bolts on the right case half of suzuki sport quads.

If you own an LTR, I would pop the side cover off and make sure that the shift shaft stud is tight, as well as the shift pawl retainer bolts.

As for transmission problems, I see the exact same problems with these transmissions as with the Hondas. If you lay the transmissions out side by side, you could not tell one from the other if you did not know the difference.

The only other thing I can say is you're not fully shifting into the gears. If your shifter is a little high or low (high-pops into nuetral when upshifting/low-pops when you're downshifting)

I've had it happen to me both ways, up and downshifting, at the dunes. It sucks when your racing up the hill and it does that.
