I asked about boring out my 04 YFZ's carb, but I heard that it wasn't necessary and would make my bike more difficult to dial-in jetting-wise. Is there a huge gain from boring a carb? Sorry to kinda jack your thread, but I was also interested in the same thing.

Boring the carb is very common and produces great results.

Call Ken at Kenz Cycle Tech 480-962-1714. He is a master at YFZ's, with a large YFZ450 customer base worldwide (yes, his YFZ450 motors don't just win sand races at the US dunes, but sand racing at places like Saudi Arabia!!). He can bore your carb in-house, but he will talk to you about your overall motor, and make sure all your mods work together. Just boring a carb on a stock motor isn't recommended. The need to bore a carb is done for and with other motor mods. Everything needs to work together.... i.e. getting more air and fuel to the motor won't do anything if the motor (ports, valves, and exhaust) can't handle it. Tell Ken I sent you, and he will take care of you.

Rudy at DFR can get it done for you as well. You can't go wrong at his shop either. He will send it out to get it done, but will be able to help you with ANY part of your bike. Rudy has more info in his head about ATV's and racing then he knows what to do with.
