I've heard of dynatek. I think they're similar to the FMIs of Trinity and Motoworks. I have a Motoworks FMI, which doesn't require a map. It is working pretty good so far but still fine tuning it in.

I did and it was a waste of money. I have it running better now than after it was dynoed. I talked to the techs at Motoworks and they don't put the quads on the dyno to tune them; they ride the quad.

I put the FMI on top of my gas tank and did a "real world" test. I was able to adjust it on the fly. It was running pretty good my last race, might be too rich though. I will be pulling my plug to see what it looks like this weekend and adjust accordingly.

With the maps, it may be easier and less of a hassle at first but once you start adding things to the bike or messing with different elevations you have to find new maps. With this type of FMI, you just push a + or -.

I am definitely still new to electronic fuel injection. I think we all are a little bit and open to anyone with knowledge on the subject.

    very true,
but heres my issue, with out dyno tuning, you could be really lean, and making crazy power, then boom, thats why im not crazy about just tuning with out a dyno, atleast you can get the A/F ratio right on the money, then add +/- 2 if you needed, its only $65 here in tucson, and like you, i really like the idea of not having to fish for maps when i change something, or ride somewhere else, every 1K feet in elevation can make a difference.

If your injection is working properly you shouldn`t even have to touch it for elevation. the computer will adjust for elevation and weather just not mods. Even though I know that I still tinker with mine though to see if I can tune it better. But you can always check the plug to see where you are at on the tune if you are questioning yourself.
As far as dyno tuning from what I have been told some shops don`t even use a sniffer or egt probe to tune the bikes. They just do a bunch of plug chops on the dyno and watch where the #s go. So you might want to ask on their tunning procedure if you have it done. To make sure your paying for what you think you are getting. The other thing about dynos they are great for drag and circle track engines that load somewhat like a dyno does. almost every engine builder will tell you a dyno will get you close. but real world running and tunning will need to be done. the dyno can`t duplicate running conditons. even on a drag car because of wind resistence etc.
