    Default Kicker Froze

Hi all. Just wanted to get some opinions. In the past I had the crank bearing issue 04-05 TRX's are famous for. My friend and I got the crank assembly replaced and since the bike ran great. Last weekend I was taking off very casual for a desert ride. My bike stalled in 1st gear and I tried over and over to get it to start. After several kicks everything froze just like when I had the crank issue. I was able to rock the bike back and forth in gear a couple of times and got the kicker to go down once. Since then it won't budge. Any ideas before I start tearing it apart?

Alright RacerDad...easy on the Honda comments.

Well, the kicker is spring loaded, and if its not returning, something is bound up.

Also, is the kicker froze up, or is the motor locked up? There is an inspection plug on the right side of the motor that takes a 10mm allen to get out, and a 8mm allen to turn the motor over. Also take the plug out to make sure its not bent over (could be a sign of a broken valve etc).

    Default Kicker Frozen

Thank for the reply Morgan. The kicker will return fine it's the downward motion that's frozen. I'll try your suggestions shortly and provide an update.

    Default Resolution

I resolved the issue but here's what happened. I have a K&N filter on the bike that I found laying in the air box. The bracket on the back side of the filter broke somehow causing the filter to come dislodged. To make a long story short this must have been what stalled the bike. After following Morgans advice, I manually turned the crank and discovered the motor was hitting something at TDC. Turns out when I was trying to start it the hold down bolt for the filter was sucked into the intake. I tore down the motor and found the bolt sitting on the piston. Lucky for me there was no damage to the piston/head/valves. I put everything back together and fired it right up. I only wish I had a higher compression piston while I had it apart...
