    Default oil in case on yfz 450???

    how do you check the oil amount in the case of an 06 yfz 450??

    From what I understand you check the "engine" oil level by running it to get the motor up to operating temp. (I think it is more to get all the oil where it is supposed to be rather then achieving a temp.)

    Shut it down then check the level using the dipstick on the oil tank. Unscrew, remove, wipe with clean rag, set back in place but do not screw it in. Pull it back out and read the level.

    The oil cap you see on the 'case' is for adding oil to the case after an oil change. You pour different amounts in both the case and the tank. I don't have the amounts handy right now.

    That 's how I understand it, but if I am wrong, someone will jump in and correct me.

    It wouldn't be the first time....
