Default what HRC cam, 04/05, 06+

just wondering if anyone has tried out both. 04/05 is more top end and 06+ is low end right?

The early HRC cam for the 04-05 based motors is more radical. The 06 HRC cam is a CRF dirtbike cam. Nothing real special.

The HRC cam in an 04-05 is comparable to a HC2 with a touch more top end. No where near enough cam for what the 04-05 motor likes.

And for 06+, cant beat a 208 in one of those motors.

HCS2 isnt enough for a 04/05 motor? thats what I would run if I ended up buying a cam.

only looking for drop in, no valvetrain mods required.

Enough for someone who does not want to do springs or valves, Yes.

well of course I want to, but for 210 for springs and then 140 for oversized valves plus getting seats cut, I think that I should just stick with a HCS2. but if the early HRC cam is more top end than the HCS2 I might just find one of those cheap maybe.

For MX I liked the Hotcam2 much more than the HRC. The Hotcam2 pulled out of turns much better than the HRC.

Like Jeremy said, the HC2 has the bottom end hit the HRC does not, and the HRC has the top end revs that the HC2 does not.

alright, just watched a new HRC cam go for almost 80, so it isnt really much of a savings over a HC. it is something but no big deal. just got another contract at the camp so I got more work than I thought so I am still going strong towards my 450. just got screwed out of my stimulus check though because it was supposed to be deposited the 16th, but because I had my prep fees deducted from my refund I get a paper check which gets sent out the 4th of july! sucks.
