    Default mountain valley performance

anyone ever had them do anything for them.

I went in today to get an estimate for pressing my sleeve out and machining the cylinder to accept, and then press in a larger 400ex sleeve.

while I was there, i asked if they did port work and the guy said yeah, they do and they have a flow bench. I asked how much on average to port a single cylinder 4 valve head and he said 150-200 bucks probably.
sounds pretty reasonable compared to a couple other quotes I have gotten, one was 450, but it was a big name shop and I have heard good things from a few people about hsi work. just wondering if anyone would vouch for mountain valleys port work, or any work I guess.

Wow.....never heard of them! I'd check Kenz Cycle Tech in Mesa, AZ. 480.962.1714 Anyone can port a head.....only a small few can do it right and have a reputation for doing so!! Call Ken.

Huh....never heard of them. I perfer to use a motor builder that will not only use a flow bench to port, but also dyno test and tune the bike when finished. You can't beat an award winning local shop like Ken'z in our own sunny state.

well, if I had him port my head, I dont know how hed run it on the dyno, cuz Ill only pay for things I cant do myself, I got no problem assembling it all and wont pay 70+ an hour for someone else to assemble my engine.

Ill make sure to check em out when I go to get a head ported though.

I'm the same way......I always do the teardown and assembly on my motors. Just dyno your bike, pull the head, get it ported, then get it dyno'd again after you put the bike back together. Never pay someone to do something that you can and like to do. Let us know how things go for you.

does he have a dyno? and how much does a pull cost? or is it howver many pulls you can get in in an hour? although the setup probably takes a chunk out of your hour.

Yes, Kenz Cycle Tech has a dyno; however, I don't know how much a session is. I think there is a price for a dyno session, and a price for a dyno/jetting session. Since they have an air/fuel mix ratio meter, jetting on the dyno is great because you see exactly what the ear can't hear when it comes to making small changes.....and small changes can make a big difference.
