    Default My Ltr 450

Ok i race motox at some of the local tracks PMP, Mammoth, and hopefully Speedworld Quadx soon! I have a couple of ?'s about my 06 LTR 450. Its bone stock!!!!!! All I have is the MSD ignition programer, and the velocity intake! I was thinking about getting some cams to give my motor that extra ump. on the track but i was hesitant because I don't have the cash for an after market exhaust!!!!! But i have heard that the stock LTR pipe with the baffel removed is almost as free flowing as an aftermarket pipe its just the aftermarket is louder!!!! What is the truth? My frame is also bent in the front end by a little bit! It barrely creased behind the back lower a-arm mount! I just ajusted my tie rod so that it would go straight since a new frame is a thousand bux! I was hoping that soon sumone would come out with a new stronger frame! Is there one made yet? What should I do? I'm not to worried about the frame but the cams and exhaust is my major concern! What do you think????????????????

if your focus is getting faster on the track, more horse power isn't always the answer. You may want to consider the things that will allow you to ride your quad faster versus it just being faster but you not being able to use it all. For the most part the LTR can be pretty fast with a programmer and the stock baffle removed, at least fast enough to win the local intermediate class. I would first look into a good steering stabilizer, either the Precision Race products (probably the best out right now) or the PEP stabilizers. Then a good wheel tire combo, the stock wheels will work but the stock tires do not seem to work that well around here so maybe switch them out for some Holeshot's or Razr's. Next would probably be the suspension, the rear you can leave stock and just switch out the shock, the front you can do the same but the better handling front ends will require replacing the a-arms too. Oh and if you haven't yet, dropping the front sprocket size one tooth will give the bike a lot more acceleration, they are definitely geared too high stock. Sux about your frame, I doubt any one will be making an aftermarket chassis for the LTR, just the gusset kits to make them stronger. If any one, it would be Lonestar, they make the TRX and YFZ chassis but not sure if they have the LTR in mind.
If you don't know, ask and i'll tell you!!!

From what I have found on the LT-R the airbox being there is one of the biggest power losses. I installed a FUELATV air box eliminator kit that comes with a HUGE k&n style filter that you can just hear sucking in the air. And about the stock exhaust with the baffle out, you gotta make sure you at least have the cherry bomb. Otherwise you will be running lean. My LT-R is almost stock except for the add ons you see. But I will tell you the truth, when you put a quality exhaust system, good intake system, and some kind of good efi programmer, the LT-R rips pretty dang good!! I have about $1100 in add-ons on mine (full exhaust, intake, programmer) and when I had it dyno'd for tuning, it made 49.5 rwh and 37.5 rwtq. And about your creased frame, one thing that I found that can prevent that, adjust your suspension, for a stock sport quad the LT-R has very adjustable suspension so you may as well use it. Once you are at the limits of the stock suspension, there are many companies that do rebuilds for ride type and weight of rider. Thats just something to look at before you drop $$ on new suspension.

I here the exhaust side cam if pretty good for stock a guy I met just put a intake cam in

the ltr rides pretty good stock my friend has one with the cherry bomb, baffle removed and no lid with uni filter it runs good

I my self can't adapt the to the difference in how the power comes on vs my trx my quad has way more power then my friends ltr but his feels likes its gunna throw ya off

anyways . if it was me get a cherry bomb a slip on and a filter setup and a stabilizer I here they make a huge difference on the ltr handling wise

Ya!!! A good stabalizer...spend the extra $$ and get a precision stabalizer. I have looked into those a lot and while they cost a little more than the stick stabalizers, they have more R&D time into them and they are fully rebuildable. That is definately going to be my next upgrade. I rode an LT-R with a precision and it was a night and day difference from mine.
