Could be any number of things. First we need some info:

    What make and model Camera?
What software is loaded for the camera, version # too?

I am assuming your are trying to use a USB memory stick or external USB hard drive, or another USB Audio device?

Will need make and models of those too.

Does this happen with every other USB device, or do particular devices work? (besides the camera).

What is the blue screen telling you? Any error codes? Post any text that might tell us what is happening or not happening from the blue screen.

If you are running XP, go to [START], [CONTROL PANEL], [ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS], [EVENT VIEWER].

Select [Application] on the left, what errors do you see on the right?
Now select [System] on the left, what errors do you see on the right?
Do any of the errors coinside with the time you plugged something in the USB ports?

Has it ever worked correctly or is theis something that just pooped up?

well its a nikon s2 camera. the computer works fine with the camera but if i plug in an ipod or our printer(cannon multipass mp390) it gives me the blue screen. ill have to plug it in a write down what the blue screen says. the only thing i remember is that it says something about a physical memory dump. it used to never do this but we got a bad virus on our computer and my buddy had to wipe it all out and start all over and since then it hasnt worked. i try that thing in the admin tools but it lists a bunch of stuff and I didnt really want to go through it all.

Sounds like your buddy didn't install something correctly. Did he Format the drive and re-install everything? or just run install over the top of the original?

Do you have the Motherboard Install CD? The one with the drivers on it, NOT the XP CD. If you do, I can log in remotely and maybe get it going that way.

Give me a call so we can set up a time to take a look.

Or shoot me a PM with your phone#.

ok here is what the blue screen says:

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
If this is the firts time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps: Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If a driver is identified in the stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates. try changing video adapters.
Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer press f8 to select advanced start up options, and then select safe mode.
    Technical information:
    *** Stop: 0x0000007E (0xc000001d, 0xf7c7d8e6, 0xf7c7d7fd, 0xf7c7d4ec)
    Beginning dump of physical memory
    physical memory dump complete.
Contact your system administrator or technical support group for further assistance.

    so any ideas?

This can be caused by any number of things, all of them not easy to troubleshoot.

    It cold be a driver,

Maybe uninstall your camera USB driver

Maybe we need to reinstall the stock USB drivers for the motherboard

    Could be a system file

    Could be RAM

Could be a corrupt(ing) hard drive.

I would need to be in front of this PC, or logged in remotely to fix this. Give me a call and we can set this up.
