    Default Remote desktop connection help

I am trying to get the remote desktop to work
so i can log on to my laptop from my PC and another PC

I am doing everything all the info i can find on it..

the one thing i see different is the opition under when you turn it on to select the security you want for the different OS's..

I am even going on the router and adding the IP addy, I am having a problem understanding the forwarding port number to use. I was using the basic 3389 i am finding

all 3 PC's are running Vista

the error i get is this
"This computer cannot connect to the remote computer"

AIM is brent98rt if thats a better way to help

did you port forward from your router to xxx.xx.xx.xxx:3389 of the machine/laptop at home you are trying to connect to, where xxx.xx.xx.xxx is the IP of the home machine?

choose the 2nd option for remote desktop - allow remote desktop connection from any OS version.

also did you turn on and allow remote connection from your laptop? You may have to also create a user id on the home machine to login to from the remote machine

You mentioned that all the PCs are running Vista, are they running Professional, Business, or Ultimate versions? Home version does not have remote desktop.

RDP can be a pain to setup on some systems for some reason. I would need to swing by to really do any quality troubleshooting.

I have found it is much easier to use a third party remote desktop program like LogMeIn. It's free for the moment and you don't need to mess with port frowarding.
