Default Need to edit PDF files but don't want to pay $299 for the privilege...

Take a look at this Free download. FoxIt

Now it can't do everything with a PDF file like the $299 Adobe Acrobat, but for free, it can do all we need it too.

Acrobat Reader is free too, but you can only READ PDF files with it. Foxit does alot more.

    Enjoy!!!

You just saved me a lot of headaches. I've needed to edit pdf files that my boss sends me and wasn't able to. This should work out great. I see you're able to add text and graphics, but can you delete current text?

The FREE version does not allow deleting original text or graphics. You can "annotate", original text and images as in draw lines through them, make notes, etc. Remember this is still basically a "PDF reader program" with a few more options to "add" text & graphics to the original.

Here you can read what you can, and cannot do with FoxIt Reader 2.1

To evaluate FoxIt Editor and Creator, just select [Help], then [Check for Updates]. When the update list is displayed, select FoxIt Creator and Editor, move them to the right hand window and install them.

**A word of caution, if you have a PDF file to edit, save a copy under a different name. then modify the second copy. After editing, when you [Save] the modified file, it will overwrite the original you opened up.**

The "eval versions" also have a "watermark" that is added at the top of the page when it is saved. It's nasty, but at least you get to use the program before you decide to buy it.

I played around with FoxIt PDF Editor and it seems to work pretty well. It's 1/3 the price of Adobe Acrobat at $99. You can check it out here

To create PDF files from scratch you will need FoxIt PDF Creator at $35

It looks like they have broke out the software into different modules. This allows for a "menu" type of ordering. Choose the portions you need and not pay for what you may never use.

So for $135 you can create, edit and read any PDF file. Still much cheaper than $299. And the program is much smaller and takes less resources to run than Adobe.

Like all software be sure to read the FAQs.

Discalimer: I do not work for, represent or receive any compensation from FoxIt. I offer it as an alternative to Adobe Acrobat when working with PDF files.
