SP3 is the final service Pack for XP. XP is now being phased out by MS and according to their info they will stop providing licensing for it to OEMs and terminate retail sales on June 30 2008.
Now this only means that you will not be able to buy it. There will still be official Microsoft support for XP for five years. Though I suspect this will be pushed back a few times before it is really dead.
There are a few issues you need to be aware of before updating to SP3 in Windows XP Home or Pro.
Many will not have problems but it seems that HP desktops using processors from AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) have had problems with the system going into a constant reboot loop.
This info is about 30 days old and MS is supposed to be working on a fix.
So before just clicking on the update or not checking your update settings to see if they are set to intall anything MS deems 'worthy', which is almost everything, do some reading first.
